Tottenham have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Jules Kounde after being rejected by the Sevilla centre-back, claims Marca.
Sevilla are hoping to sell the highly rated defender this summer in a bid to raise money and help fund their recruitment drive.
Tottenham have been in contact over Kounde and were reportedly willing to offer €30m (£25.6m) and Davinson Sanchez as a makeweight.
However, it has now emerged Kounde has declined the opportunity to even discuss a move with Tottenham and would prefer to spend another season with Sevilla.
Kounde has a €80m (£68m) release clause but Sevilla know they are unlikely to command that in this market.
The 22-year-old is not due back to pre-season training just yet after France's Euro 2020 campaign but Sevilla may struggle to offload the youngster this summer.
Kounde finished the 2020/21 campaign as the best rated centre-back in La Liga (7.01) and in the team of the season.
