Rising German manager hints at Real Madrid ambition

Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann insists he will be at the club next season but admits it would be hard to turn down an approach from Real Madrid in the future.

Nagelsmann, 29, has won plaudits from across Europe for the work he has done with Hoffenheim since becoming manager in February 2016 and is tipped to go on to bigger and better things in the future.

Hoffenheim are currently fourth in the Bundesliga and are almost certainly going to be in Europe next season, which Nagelsmann has confirmed he will be at the club for.

However, Nagelsmann’s roof certainly appears higher than Hoffenheim’s and the young German has already spoken about the allure of managing a club like Real Madrid.

“There is, of course, a lot of speculation and I also have an agent who doesn’t pass on every question,” Nagelsmann told Sky Sports, via Get German Football.

“Every club knows I have a contract until 2019. Of course there are interests, but I have not spoken with any team. Once again, next season I am head coach of Hoffenheim.

“If next Real Madrid calls and want me, then I would perhaps ask [Hoffenheim owner] Dietmar Hopp if he would let me go. But they won’t call.”

Hoffenheim only finished one point above the relegation play-off spot last season but already have more points this season and are 11 places higher up in the Bundesliga.
