West Ham dealt injury blow over international break

David Moyes has been dealt an early blow in his tenure as West Ham manager after Javier Hernandez suffered a suspected hamstring for Mexico , reports The Daily Mail.

Hernandez limped off 51 minutes into Mexico’s 3-3 draw with Belgium on Friday and will need to be assessed further by West Ham’s medical team this week.

The 29-year-old remains a serious doubt for Moyes’ first match as West Ham manager when the Hammers travel to face Watford on Sunday.

However, there is good news for Hernandez who has been promised a clean slate by Moyes following their rocky relationship at Manchester United.

Hernandez was reportedly critical of Moyes’ brief tenure at Old Trafford after being frustrated by a lack of game time under the Scot, but Moyes will not hold any of that against him as he bids to steers the Hammers clear of the bottom three.

The Mexico international is West Ham’s top goalscorer in the Premier League this season after netting four goals in 11 appearances, but he has not hit the heights predicted when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen.
