Ancelotti tells Bayern midfielder he’s free to leave

Incoming Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has informed Mario Gotze he is free to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer, according to German news outlet Focus, via 101 Great Goals.

Gotze has struggled to kick on since scoring the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final and has dropped down the pecking order at Bayern under Pep Guardiola this season.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and a return to Borussia Dortmund as a result and has now been given the green light to leave following three years at the club.

Gotze has reportedly been told he can leave for as little as €20m (£16m), which could spark more clubs to show an interest in the versatile creator.

The 23-year-old has only started 10 league games for the Bundesliga giants this season, which is his lowest return in a league campaign in the last seven years.
