Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has fuelled talk of a move to Manchester United after revealing he would be open to playing alongside Paul Pogba at club level.
Jose Mourinho’s side have already been linked with a move for Griezmann and have been given encouragement after the France international opened up about the depth of his friendship with their world record signing.
Griezmann, 25, only signed a new five-year deal with Atletico in the summer but has already revealed he will only stay at the club as long as Diego Simeone remains.
The Atletico boss has already reduced his contract and is expected to leave in 2018, while Griezmann has revealed Pogba could be key in where he next plays.
“I always ask Paul Pogba about Manchester United,” Griezmann told Sky Sports. “I think they are a huge club with a really good infrastructure.
“I ask Paul about some of the players, and if they’re really that good, or if Jose Mourinho is really that good.
“You hear a lot of things [speculation] about Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but right now I don’t see me moving to a new club. But it would be awesome to play alongside Paul one day.”
Griezmann has been in sensational form in 2016 and finished Euro 2016 as the UEFA player of the tournament despite finishing second behind Portugal.
The striker’s accomplishments this year have even seen many tip him as an outsider for the next Ballon d’Or, although that is widely expected to end up in Cristiano Ronaldo’s hands once more.
With a release clause of £85.5m, it would not be out of United’s hands to sign the Frenchman having already broke the world record to sign Pogba this summer.
In 2016 only Luis Suarez (33), Lionel Messi (28) and Cristiano Ronaldo (26) have scored more goals in La Liga than Griezmann (19).
