Real Madrid star rejects huge offer from China

Out-of-favour Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has rejected a stunning offer from Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China, reports AS.

The Chinese Super League have already acquired Oscar, Carlos Tevez and Axel Witsel this month and are keen to sign more of the best talent around the world to up the status of their league.

And it has now emerged Hebei China, who are managed by former Madrid head coach Manuel Pellegrini, have failed with a stunning €110m (£95.4m) bid for Rodriguez.

Hebei chiefs tabled an initial €80m (£69m) offer to Madrid president Florentino Perez at the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai on 27 December before increasing their bid to what would have been a world record deal.

Not only that, by the CSL side were willing to offer Rodriguez nearly 10 times what he current earns a year at Madrid (€3.5m-a-year) in order to lure the Colombia international to the Far East, although both parties have turned down their offer.

Rodriguez, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from Madrid for the past 12 months after dropping down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and there would be no shortage of suitors should he become available for transfer.

Since joining the European champions after the 2014 World Cup, no player to have started in at least 10 La Liga matches has required fewer minutes per key passes created than Rodriguez (1 every 28.4 minutes).
