West Ham close in on Ogbonna signing

West Ham look set to complete the sensational capture of Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna.

The Italy international moved to the Old Lady in 2013 having impressed for rivals Torino, but failed to replicate his form at the Juventus Stadium.

While the 27-year-old made 18 league starts last season, Ogbonna is behind the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrwa Barzagli in the pecking order for the Serie A champions.

Juventus are now prepared to entertain offers for the defender, who gained a WhoScored rating of 6.93 in Italy's top tier last term.

West Ham are in pole position to secure the services of Ogbonna for a rumoured €12m, with a further €1m in bonuses.

New Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has made a new centre-back one of his top priorities since succeeding Sam Allardyce at Upton Park and having been priced out of a move for Aymen Abdennour, Bilic turned his attention to Ogbonna.

The east London side, however, face competition from Premier League rivals Everton in the race to sign the Italian centre-back.
