Barcelona ace eyes long term stay

Jordi Alba has dismissed suggestions he is looking to leave Barcelona at the end of the season and eyes a long-term future at the Camp Nou.

The Spain international has dropped down the pecking order at Barcelona under Luis Enquire this season leading to suggestions of dressing room unrest and a potential summer exit with reports linking the club with a move for Atletico Madrid loan star Theo Hernandez.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a thoroughly impressive campaign on loan at Alaves this season and is now being linked with a summer move to Real Madrid and Barcelona, putting further questions over the future of Alba.

However, the Spaniard is likely to be given a fresh start at the end of the current campaign when Enrique steps down as Barcelona head coach and the lightening fast defender has no intentions of leaving any time soon.

“If the club wants me to stay, I will, I want to stay [at] Barcelona,” Goal.com quote Alba as saying at an Adidas event on Thursday. “I am happy with the minutes I have been playing this season, I feel so proud [to be] playing at home.

“You can hear about Theo Hernandez and [there will be] other names the following week, [but] I am proud of being here.”

Barcelona ace eyes long term stay

Alba has only started 19 league games this season having spent the last two campaigns as a first-team regular for Barcelona. Nevertheless, only Barcelona’s fearsome front three have registered more assists than Alba in La Liga for the reigning Spanish champions this season (5).
