Celtic have announced Craig Gordon has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal keeping him at the club until 2020.
Gordon, 34, was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window as Antonio Conte’s side looked for a potential replacement for Asmir Begovic as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy.
The Scotland international has re-built his career back in his homeland after joining Celtic from Sunderland in 2014 and the veteran goalkeeper is happy he can now concentrate on the rest of the season.
“It’s taken a little while after the interest in the January window but it’s good to finally get it done and concentrate on the rest of the season,” Gordon told the club’s official website.
“It was quite stop-start, there was a lot of things going on within the club, it wasn’t a continuous thing, it wasn’t like we were talking about it for months. There were two or three occasions when we sat down and talked about it, it was fairly straight forward in the end, I wanted to stay.”
Gordon has kept 22 clean sheets in all competitions this season as Celtic look set to enjoy a thoroughly successful campaign on all fronts.
