Oxlade-Chamberlain set for early Liverpool return

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to provide Liverpool with a huge boost in the title race with the midfielder pencilled in to return to full training ahead of schedule, claims the Liverpool Echo.

The England international suffered a serious knee injury in April and was originally ruled out for the entirety of this season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain missed the 2018 World Cup but has worked hard on his rehabilitation and it is now revealed he will return way ahead of schedule.

Liverpool are proceeding with caution in Oxlade-Chamberlain’s recovery but expect the 25-year-old to return to full training by mid-February.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League and Oxlade-Chamberlain’s availability will only boost their title challenge.

The first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Bayern Munich on February 19 will come too soon for Oxlade-Chamberlain, but he should be available by the time of the return leg almost a month later.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 32 league appearances for Liverpool during his maiden campaign, returning two goals and seven assists for the Reds.
