Suso’s move to Wolfsburg is dead, confirms sporting director

Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe has confirmed the Bundesliga side are no longer in talks with AC Milan for the potential transfer of Suso.

Suso has been heavily linked with a move away from Milan this summer and was even omitted from their pre-season squad for the International Champions Cup fuelling talk his exit was imminent.

The Serie A giants have embarked on a stunning spending spree that has surpassed the £150m mark and Suso’s future at the club remains up in the air as new players battle for his position.

Wolfsburg were willing to offer €15m (£13.4m) for the former Liverpool winger but have now drawn a line under their pursuit after failing to negotiate a fee with their Italian counterparts.

“It is true, the topic is off the table,” Rebbe told German outlet Kicker, via Get German Football.

No Milan player scored or assisted more league goals than Suso last season (16 – seven goals, nine assists). However, 11 of those goals were recorded before the turn of the year, where his form then dipped.
