The agent of Arda Turan has poured cold water on fresh suggestions the Barcelona midfielder will join Arsenal this summer after insisting the midfielder’s future remains at the Camp Nou.
Turan has been regularly linked with a move to Arsenal ever since joining Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in 2014 after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular.
Arsene Wenger is expected to engage in one of the busiest summers in Arsenal’s history and reports had emerged suggesting Turan would be part of wholesale changes at the club, but his agent, Ahmed Bulut, has rubbished talk of a Barcelona exit.
“Arda’s not going anywhere,” he told Diaro AS, via Football Espana. “Barcelona are happy with him and we’ve not spoken with any club about a transfer.
“The news being reported about him leaving the club annoys Arda. The board don’t like the rumours either. Arda Turan will finish his contract; he will stay until 2020.”
The Turkey international only scored three goals in 18 appearances in La Liga this season and has only started 23 league games in his two years as a Barcelona player.
However, the Barcelona No.7 did have some success in the Champions League despite only featuring in 172 minutes of action. In fact, no player required fewer minutes per goal in UEFA’s top competition this season than Turan (1 every 43 minutes of action).
