AC Milan are interested in signing Alvaro Morata from Chelsea this summer but have been told to fork out in the region of £62m, claims Sky Sports.
Morata only joined Chelsea 12 months ago for an initial £57m fee but has been heavily linked with a move away after enduring a difficult first campaign at the club.
Milan have a long-standing interest in Morata and the club’s sporting director, Leonardo, has already contacted Chelsea about a potential transfer.
New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri wants to overhaul the club’s offensive options and is willing to sacrifice Morata for a reunion with Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Milan are also in the race to sign Higuain, while Monaco striker Radamel Falcao remains a target for the club if they fail to prise Morata away from Chelsea.
The 25-year-old only netted 11 times in 31 league appearances for Chelsea last season, garnering a less-than-impressive WhoScored rating of 6.94.
There were few positives to Morata’s debut season at Chelsea but he did strike up a good understanding with Spanish compatriot Cesar Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta provided six assists in the Premier League last season and Morata was on the receiving end of all of them.
In fact, only Riyad Mahrez to Jamie Vardy was a more prolific assist-to-goalscorer combination in the Premier League last term (7 goals).
