Calhanoglu arrives at AC Milan for medical

AC Milan are poised to announce the signing of Hakan Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen, picturing the player arriving at the Milanello training base via their official Twitter account.

The Turkey international hasn’t played since the end of January after he was handed a fourth month ban from FIFA pertaining to an unfulfilled agreement to transfer to Super Lig side Tranbzonspor back in 2011.

The playmaker instead stayed in Germany, eventually moving to Hamburg and then onto Bayer Leverkusen in 2014.

In his four years in the Bundesliga the 23-year-old has scored 28 goals and registered a further 20 assists. He is renowned for his ability over a set piece and to score from distance, with a tally of 17 goals from outside the box since 2013 almost twice that of any other player in Germany’s top-flight.

Provided the paperwork is concluded as expected, for a fee in the region of €24m, Calhanoglu will become Milan’s sixth signing of the summer, taking their total expenditure to over €90m.
