Chelsea keen on £80m-rated Premier League forward

Chelsea are pondering a January move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha if they can overturn their FIFA-imposed transfer ban, claims The Sun.

Frank Lampard’s side are currently unable to sign new players until next summer but have lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Chelsea were unable to sign new players this summer but hope to get their ban lifted in time for the January transfer window.

The Premier League giants have already earmarked Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake as a possible target and are also keen on Zaha.

The Ivory Coast international is desperate to leave Crystal Palace and was furious the Eagles prevented him from joining Everton this summer.

Zaha still has the rest of the month to secure a transfer to a European side but Palace’s eye-watering valuation makes any move unlikely.

The 26-year-old fears he may have lost the chance to secure a move to a top side but Chelsea could yet hand him a route out of his Palace misery.

Christian Pulisic’s arrival has helped offset Eden Hazard’s departure but Lampard wants to further bolster his wide options.

Willian and Pedro are both the wrong side of 30, while Callum Hudson-Odoi is currently recovering from an Achilles injury.

Last season saw Zaha reach double figures for goals in a single Premier League campaign (10) for the first time in his career.
