Pirlo heading to MLS

Andrea Pirlo is leaving Juventus for Major League Soccer after completing his move to New York City FC, the Serie A outfit have confirmed.

The move brings a end to a glorious 20-year career in Europe, where Pirlo won more than a dozen major honours during spells at AC Milan, Juventus and for Italy. He will now link up with Frank Lampard and David Villa at New York.

The 36-year-old scored 13 goals from outside the penalty box over the last three seasons in the Serie A, no player has scored more in Italy’s top-flight in that time.

Furthermore, only Francesco Totti (438) has players more key passes in the Serie A in the last six years than Pirlo (431), while no player has scored more direct-free kicks than the midfield meastro (12) in Europe's top five leagues in the last four years.
