Bayern star rejected lucrative move to China

Bayern Munich forward Franck Ribery has revealed he turned down a move to China earlier this year.

Ribery, 32, has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena but has barely been seen on a football pitch in the last two years because of a reoccurring back injury.

The former France international is currently free from injuries and has now revealed he rejected a lucrative offer from China because he isn’t interested in the financial aspect of football.

“Money is not the most important thing for me. If it were, then I would move to China,” Ribery told German newspaper Bild, via The Press Association.

"I had an offer, but I’m not interested in that. I want to have fun here with the fans and win titles with Bayern. This is my club.”

Ribery has only started one league game this season, and has been forced to settle with three appearances from the substitutes’ bench, but he is still averaging a goal or an assist every 64.3 minutes.
