Everton in talks to sign Deportivo striker

Everton have entered talks with Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna for striker Lucas Perez, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Ronald Koeman is keen to add competition to his offensive options before the transfer window shuts next week and Everton are exploring Steve Walsh’s recommendation having previously failed to bring him to Leicester last season.

The Toffees are hopeful of securing a deal for Perez in the region of £15m and Koeman is already planning to use him as a support striker to Romelu Lukaku or as the lone frontman in Lukaku’s absence.

Since the start of last season no Spanish player has played a direct hand in more goals in La Liga than Perez (27 – 18 goals, nine assists).
