Everton eye Bundesliga midfielder

Everton manager Marco Silva has added Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria to his list of transfer targets this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.

Silva is yet to make a single summer signing but is closing in on a blockbuster £40m deal for Watford starlet Richarlison.

The new Everton manager wants to overhaul the club’s current midfield options before the start of next season and has earmarked Zakaria as a potential target.

Zakaria only joined Gladbach in January 2017 after catching the eye of scouts playing for Young Boys in his native Switzerland.

The 21-year-old towering midfielder is highly rated in Germany and now Everton are considering a summer move for his services.

Zakaria made 29 league starts for Gladbach during his breakout year and Silva believes he is the ideal young midfielder to develop into a star.

The youngster was included in Switzerland’s 2018 World Cup squad but only made two substitute appearances, amassing 50 minutes of playing time.

No Bundesliga player picked up more bookings than Zakaria last season (11).

With Everton's interest in mind, it might be worth considering Zakaria for your Football INDEX portfolios. His share price is only £0.87.
