Toni Kroos has ended speculation about his Real Madrid future by signing a new four-year deal with the Spanish giants.
Kroos has endured one of his most difficult seasons as a Madrid player and there were suggestions he could be sold.
Madrid are targeting a huge squad overhaul this summer and Zinedine Zidane’s side have been heavily linked with Premier League midfielder Christian Eriksen and Paul Pogba.
Both players would be direct competition for Kroos but the 29-year-old has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal to see out his best remaining years at the club.
Kroos finished the season without a goal to his name in a league campaign for the first time since joining Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014.
The Germany international also managed just four assists in La Liga, having played a direct hand in 12 league goals last term.
Furthermore, only two players had more shots without scoring a single goal in La Liga this season than Kroos (30).
Kroos was, however, typically efficient in possession, with only Barcelona midfielder Arthur (93.5%) boasting a better pass success rate than the Madrid midfielder (93.2%).
