Chelsea track Serie A goal machine

Chelsea are monitoring the progress of Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic ahead of the January transfer window, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Premier League champions are reportedly looking to strengthen their frontline in the winter transfer window following their disastrous start to the campaign.

Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have managed just four league goals between them this season and Jose Mourinho is unsurprisingly scouring the market for alternative options as they face an uphill battle to make the top four.

According to reports in Italy, former Blackburn striker Kalinic is among the players Chelsea are monitoring.

The 27-year-old is already enjoying his most prolific season in Europe’s top five leagues over the last seven years, having scored four more goals than any previous league campaign (9).  In fact, of players to have featured in 10 games this season, no player is requiring fewer minutes per goal than Kalinic in Serie A (95.3 mins)
