Manchester United rekindle interest in Juventus defender De Ligt
Manchester United are monitoring Matthijs de Ligt's future at Juventus less than 12 months after the centre-back joined the Serie A giants, reports ESPN.
Juventus shelled out £67.5M to sign De Ligt from Ajax last summer after the Netherlands international captained the Dutch outfit to the Champions League semi finals in 2018/19.
The Old Lady fended off interest from the likes of United and Barcelona to sign De Ligt but the highly rated 20-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the club.
United are now understood to be monitoring De Ligt's future at Juventus but accept there is little chance he leaves just 12 months into his five-year deal.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have positioned themselves at the front of the queue for De Ligt should Juventus be open to offers.
United's renewed interest in De Ligt has also raised the possibility of a swap deal involving Paul Pogba, who has been regularly linked with a return to Juventus.
Pogba spent four years at Juventus before re-signing for United in 2016 and his future beyond the end of the current campaign remains uncertain.
Juventus have won all nine of the league matches De Ligt has not started in Serie A this season compared to a win ratio of 64.7% from his 17 league starts.
