De Gea to leave Manchester United and become world's highest paid goalkeeper
David de Gea will leave Manchester United when his contract runs out in the summer, with PSG ready to make the Spaniard the world’s highest paid goalkeeper according to the Daily Mail.
The 28-year-old has put off negotiations on a new deal at Old Trafford in the knowledge that Europe’s top clubs will be circling, with the French champions reportedly at the front of the queue.
PSG are willing to offer De Gea a contract amounting to £300,000-a-week to beat off any competition for the Spain international’s signature, and it appears more and more likely that his future will be away from Manchester.
A stalemate with Crystal Palace on Saturday meant that United are now already 14 points adrift of rivals Manchester City after just 13 matches and a Champions League finish is looking less and less likely.
Without the lure of Champions League football, De Gea’s decision would certainly be made far easier, although the keeper hasn’t been at his best himself this season and a fresh start may be just what he needs.
A clean sheet last time out was his first in 10 matches in all competitions for club and country, and the remarkable reflexes that have seen him establish himself as one of the world’s best shot stoppers have been less prominent thus far.
