Spurs star set for new deal

Christian Eriksen has described talks over a new contract at Tottenham as “positive” with the midfielder keen to extend his stay at White Hart Lane.

The Dane has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal at the club, but is hoping to prolong that by signing a new long-term deal in the foreseeable future.

Eriksen, who netted his side’s winner in the 2-1 win at Manchester City on Sunday evening, believes he can fulfil his ambitions with the north London side.

"We're still talking about the contract. It's all positive. I think everyone can see that I can fulfil my ambitions here,” the 24-year-old said.

"We're still not there, we're still far from winning the league. There are a lot of games to go. We need to be really sharp and continue what we're doing.

“We have a lot of good players, even on the bench. The players we brought on are top, top quality and the ones who are not playing are still doing a really good job.

"We always believe in scoring goals. We are relaxed. We know when we need to go forward and when we need to stay calm."

Only Mesut Ozil (106) has played more key passes than Eriksen (78) in the Premier League this season, with the Denmark international continuing to excel under Mauricio Pochettino.
