Liverpool to sacrifice Brewster for Thiago

Liverpool have decided they will let Rhian Brewster leave on a permanent deal this summer but any move will include a buy-back option, claims The Daily Mail.

Jurgen Klopp started the summer with Brewster in mind for his first-team plans for 2020/21 but that has changed in recent weeks.

With Liverpool on the verge of signing Thiago from Bayern Munich for £27m, the Reds are looking to make back some of that money through player sales.

Georginio Wijnaldum looked the most likely to leave in that regard but now it's unclear whether Barcelona will be able to afford a deal for the Netherlands international.

With no buyers for the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi, Liverpool have reluctantly accepted the idea of Brewster leaving permanently.

The £20m-rated starlet was a hit on loan with Championship side Swansea during the second half of last season but is now primed for regular football in the Premier League.

Brewster, who missed a decisive penalty in Liverpool's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, is still highly thought of by Klopp and the club and they will include a buy-back clause when his leaves.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in 22 league appearances for Swansea during the second half of last season.
