Redmond pens new Southampton deal

Southampton have announced Nathan Redmond has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal running until the summer of 2023.

Redmond had entered the final two years of his previous deal and Southampton have moved to secure the 25-year-old’s long-term future.

The former England international has flourished since Ralph Hasenhuttl was appointed Southampton manager in December and is now a key player for the south coast club.

“I’m really happy to have signed, and I’m just waiting to get the season up and going now,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’ve got a great group of players here, who I’ve been with for the last three years. I see them every single day and it’s a pleasure to go out there and perform with them at the weekend and train hard with them every single week.

“I feel like we can hopefully build something special and to be part of it for the next four years is good for me.”

Last season saw Redmond return 10 goals and assists in a Premier League campaign for the first time in his career (six goals, four assists).

Furthermore, only Mohamed Salah (39) won possession in the attacking third more times than Redmond (38) in the Premier League last term.
