Manchester City are close to signing Leicester ace Riyad Mahrez in a £75m deal and hope to conclude the transfer by the end of the week, reports The Daily Mail.
Pep Guardiola wants to get City’s transfer dealings done early once again this summer and has revived the club’s interest in Mahrez to bolster his offensive options.
Leicester demanded in the region of £90m for Mahrez in January and Guardiola pulled the plug on a deal on the last day of the winter transfer window.
Mahrez has since confirmed he has withdrawn the transfer request he submitted in a bid to force through a move to City, but the 27-year-old would likely jump at the chance of signing for the Premier League champions.
Guardiola has also weighed up a move for Bayer Leverkusen starlet Leon Bailey but has instead focused his attentions on prising Mahrez away from the King Power Stadium.
Mahrez was one of only five players that scored and assisted at least 10 Premier League goals this season (12 goals, 10 assists).
