Porto issue hands off warning for Liverpool target

Porto president Pinto da Costa has issued a hands off warning to admirers of teen sensation Ruben Neves.

Neves, 18, has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool and other European clubs in recent weeks having emerged as a key player for Porto.

The Portugal U21 international became the youngest ever captain in Champions League history when he led out Porto against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening and the club are keen to keep hold of the talent.

“Ruben has a contract until 2019 and not until 2017, as sometimes I see in reports," da Costa told the Daily Mail.

“And we would like to keep him at FC Porto, as a kind of Joao Pinto. That is, he was a symbol and legend of the progress of the club for several generations.

“I never want him to leave Porto. Since I want him to stay for a long time he can be Porto’s greatest captain.”
