Tottenham turn to Leicester striker to ease Kane blow

Tottenham are considering a move for Leicester striker Islam Slimani as a means of easing Harry Kane's absence, reports The Telegraph.

Kane is out until at least April after suffering a hamstring injury on the New Year's Day 1-0 loss at Southampton and Spurs have struggled without their talisman.

Indeed, Spurs are yet to score a Premier League goal this year and head coach Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in a new striker to shoulder the goalscoring burden.

Reports of a move for AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek have gone quiet in recent weeks, with the north London side reportedly turning their attention to Slimani.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Monaco, where he has scored seven and assisted seven in 13 league outings.

However, the towering Algerian hasn't started any of Monaco's last four competitive matches and it has seen Spurs show an interest in Slimani, who has been courted by Aston Villa this month.

Leicester, though, may resist allowing Slimani to move to a top-four rival in Spurs, even though the Foxes currently sit 14 points ahead of Mourinho's side.
