Sevilla plot audacious move for Manchester United forward
Sevilla have rekindled their interest in Manchester United forward Anthony Martial after missing out on Alvaro Morata, claims ESPN.
Martial has entered the final 18 months of his existing United contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford for the last year.
The France international was heading towards a United exit during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club but things have turned around since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed manager before Christmas.
Martial is a fan favourite at Old Trafford and has reportedly instructed his agent to sort a long-term deal at United in the wake of Mourinho’s dismissal.
However, Sevilla are attempting to throw a spanner in the works by prising Martial away from United this month, though any move seems extremely unlikely.
Sevilla pulled out of discussions to sign Morata from Chelsea due to the finances involved and Martial will likely prove as expensive, if not more so.
The Spanish side want to bolster their offensive options ahead of the Champions League knockout stages and are pursuing Martial despite the fact they are unlikely to succeed.
Martial is one of four United players to have scored eight Premier League goals this season.
