Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is on the verge of signing a new contract extension, according to Calciomercato.
Cahill, 29, still has 18 months left to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge but the Blues are reportedly keen to sort his future before entering it enters the final year, although the length of the next contract could prove problematic.
Chelsea have struggled defensively this season and have since been linked with a raft of central defenders to fix the problem, but are willing to extend Cahill’s deal.
The England international scored his first Champions League goal of the season on Tuesday evening, meaning he has now scored in each of the last four editions of the competition.
