Borussia Dortmund announce signing of £22m Hoffenheim defender

Borussia Dortmund have announced they have agreed a deal to sign Hoffenheim defender Nico Schulz.

The Bundesliga outfit have reportedly signed the 26-year-old in a deal worth £22m to kickstart their planning for next season.

Schulz has put pen to paper on a five-year deal running until the summer of 2024 and will reunite with former Gladbach coach Lucien Favre.

Dortmund navigated through this season without ever really nailing down a first-choice left-back and Schulz will fill that role.

Achraf Hakimi impressed for Dortmund before injury ended his season in March and it remains to be seen whether they can prolong his stay from Real Madrid.

Only Julian Brandt (63) and Max Kruse (62) created more chances from open play in the Bundesliga this season than Schulz (60).
