Manchester United agree world record fee for new defender
Manchester United have finally made a breakthrough in talks with Crystal Palace and agreed a fee for top transfer target Aaron Wan-Bissaka, claims The Daily Record.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have already had two bids rejected by Palace but have now agreed a £55m fee for the 21-year-old, who is currently away with England at the U21 European Championships.
United accept they will have to pay over-inflated prices to land their preferred targets and have agreed to make Wan-Bissaka the most costly full-back of all-time and fourth most expensive player in the club’s history.
Solskjaer wanted his transfer business concluded before his players are due back for pre-season at the start of next month but United have struggled to get their dealings over the line, only getting Daniel James in from Swansea at present.
Wan-Bissaka has endured a remarkable rise since breaking into Palace’s first-team 18 months ago and is now considered one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.
The Palace ace made more tackles (129) than any other defender in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
