Tottenham fear missing out on top transfer target to Liverpool

Tottenham are concerned they will miss out on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot to Premier League rivals Liverpool, claims The Daily Mirror.

Rabiot is out of contract at the end of the season and has been banished to the reserves by PSG to see out the remainder of the season.

The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the past, while Tottenham are extremely keen on the talented 23-year-old.

Barcelona have already agreed to sign Frankie de Jong from Ajax in a bigger money move at the end of the season but now Tottenham fear Liverpool will win the race for Rabiot.

Rabiot and his mother, who acts as his agent, have proved incredibly difficult to negotiate with in the past but Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly told the midfielder he will be a guaranteed starter at Tottenham.

Nevertheless, there are concerns from within the north London outfit that Liverpool’s interest could trump their own pursuit.

Rabiot was a first-team regular for Thomas Tuchel up until it became clear he would not renew with the club and he hasn’t featured since a seven-minute cameo against FK Crvena Zvezda at the start of December.

The French midfielder, who has likely played his final game for PSG, has a WhoScored rating of 7.31 in the league this season and has impressively completed 93.1% of his passes.
