West Ham are keen to sign Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina but face competition from Barcelona for his signature, reports The Daily Mirror.
Mina, 22, was an integral part of the Palmeiras squad that won the Brasileirao last season and his performances have not been missed in Europe.
Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of securing a deal for the Colombia international in the summer but West Ham are planning to hi-jack the move with a January bid now.
Nevertheless, West Ham’s interest in the highly rated centre back would not be missed by their European rivals, who would likely be forced to accelerate their own pursuit in Mina.
Mina weighed in with an impressive four goals in 13 league appearances last season from centre-back, while only Gabriel Jesus (7.43), who has now joined Manchester City, garnered a higher WhoScored rating for the Brazilian champions (Mina - 7.29).
