Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has told Chelsea to forget about trying to make Massimiliano Allegri their new long-term manager at the end of the season.
The Italian coach has recently emerged as one of the front-runners to replace Guus Hiddink at the end of the season after Chelsea missed out on Pep Guardiola to Manchester City.
Juventus have won their last 14 league games and are soaring towards the top of the Serie A and Marotta has told Chelsea to look elsewhere.
“We have a great rapport with Allegri. Contracts are not as important as the relationship between people," he is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“With Allegri, the conditions are all there to continue. The team is doing well and improving a great deal. Now the crucial moment of the season is coming up, so we should focus on that.
“I believe that in a corporate structure such as ours the role of coach is of very high importance, so I am opposed to having a coach who is set to leave the club.”
Chelsea are still unbeaten in Hiddink’s second spell as interim manager after salvaging a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the dying embers on Sunday (10 games all competitions).
