West Ham want Fulham striker Mitrovic

West Ham want to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic from relegated Premier League side Fulham at the end of the season, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Mitrovic has been one of few positives for Fulham this season and the Cottagers remain confident they can keep the 24-year-old despite not being able to offer Premier League football next year.

The Serbia international will not be short of offers at the end of the season and West Ham are ready to land the powerful striker in a bid to bolster their offensive options for the new campaign.

Andy Carroll’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and West Ham have decided against renewing his contract.

Mitrovic offers similar qualities to Carroll but does not suffer from the same injury problems as the former England international.

West Ham may have to make Mitrovic one of the most expensive players in the club’s history to prise him away from Craven Cottage, with Scott Parker’s side slapping a £30m asking price on his head to ward off suitors.

Mitrovic is without a Premier League goal in his last nine matches but has netted 10 times in the league this season and has provided three assists.

In fact, Mitrovic has played a direct hand in 40.6% of the goals Fulham have scored in the Premier League this season (13/32).
