Southampton have confirmed they are weighing up Jay Rodriguez’s treatment options in order to solve his troublesome foot problems.
Rodriguez, 26, has been cast in and out of the first-team at Southampton this season having only just returned from an 18-month injury lay-off.
The England international has struggled with a reoccurring foot injury and hasn’t featured for Southampton since midway through October and Ronald Koeman admits he may require surgery to solve the problem.
“Jay is not good, it’s now a long time and we have to make now a really tough decision how we have to do the treatment,” Koeman told Southampton’s official website.
“Maybe it will be a surgery next week. Still his feet is a problem, it gives a lot of pain. We did everything and now, the final call, maybe it will be surgery next week.”
Rodriguez hasn’t managed to last the full 90 minutes in either of his two starts this season and only Juanmi (6.01) has garnered a lower WhoScored rating for Saints than the former Burnley forward thus far (6.22).
