Barcelona and Real Madrid enter race for Liverpool target
Barcelona and Real Madrid are monitoring Timo Werner's future at RB Leipzig ahead of the summer transfer window, reports Goal.
Werner is widely expected to leave RB Leipzig at the end of the season after a blistering campaign in front of goal for the Bundesliga outfit.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are Werner's most likely destinations but now Barcelona and Madrid have added the Germany international to their list of transfer targets.
Both Spanish giants have made signing a new striker a top priority this summer with Barcelona chasing Lautaro Martinez and Neymar and Madrid linked with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
However, deals for all of those players could prove problematic and both are now keeping tabs on Werner as an alterantive option.
It has even emerged Barcelona made contact with Werner's entourage before the outbreak of COVID-19 to make their interest known.
Werner has already equalled his best ever return in a single league campaign this season (21 goals in 25 appearances) and Leipzig still have nine games remaining.
