Real Madrid have announced Eden Hazard is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Madrid are preparing for Saturday’s LaLiga opener against Celta Vigo but Zinedine Zidane will not be able to call on summer signing Hazard.
The Spanish giants have endured a nightmare pre-season and news Hazard could be out for up to a month is a further blow for Zidane.
“After test results carried out after training today on our player Eden Hazard by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the anterior part of his right thigh,” a statement read on Madrid’s official website.
Hazard was widely criticised in Spain for reporting to Madrid pre-season out of shape.
The Belgium international turned in some eye-catching displays towards the end of Madrid’s off-season but will now have to wait before making his debut for Los Blancos.
Hazard, 28, finished last season as the highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League (7.81) and played a direct hand in the most goals in the division (31).
