Italy ace agrees £53.4m release clause

Torino striker Andrea Belotti has been rewarded with a new deal that includes a staggering €60m (£53.4m) release clause, reports Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

Belotti, 22, has been linked with a move to the Premier League after making a sensational start to the season that earned him a first call-up to the Italy national team.

However, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool may now have to look at alternative transfer targets following news Belotti has reportedly agreed to a new five-year deal that will keep him at Torino until 2021.

Crucially, however, is news that Belotti’s new contract will include a staggering £53.4m release clause that could potentially rise as high as £80.1m.

No Italian player has sold for more than the £33m Juventus paid Parma to sign Gianluigi Buffon in 2001 and Belotti’s new release clause will surely price him out of Arsenal and Liverpool’s interest.

Of those to have started at least four Serie A games this season only three players require fewer minutes per goal than Belotti (1 every 94.8 mins).
