Former Manchester United manager David Moyes is interested in succeeding Gordon Strachan as Scotland manager, reports Sky Sports.
Strachan left his position as Scotland boss after failing to secure their place at the 2018 World Cup and the search for his successor has started immediately.
Moyes, who has been out of work since being sacked as Sunderland manager in the summer, has emerged as the early favourite with bookmakers and the 54-year-old is interested in the job.
The Scot’s career has been in freefall since leaving Everton to manage United in 2013, which was followed up with unsuccessful stints at Real Sociedad and most recently Sunderland.
Moyes spent six years of his playing career in Scotland but only ever represented the national team’s U18 side during a professional career that spanned 19 years.
Scotland haven’t featured at a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup and that will be the aim for Strachan’s eventual successor.
Strachan actually finished his tenure as Scotland manager unbeaten in seven matches, but it wasn’t enough to qualify for next summer’s World Cup.
