Beijing Guoan have completed a €40m (£35.5m) deal for Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu, reports L’Equipe.
Bakambu signed a two-year contract extension with Villarreal in the summer but has now secured a lucrative move to China after making a bright start to the season.
The 26-year-old has reportedly agreed a four-year deal with the Chinese Super League side and his fee will eclipse the £34m Villarreal received for Eric Bailly in 2016.
Villarreal are currently in sixth place but the loss of top goalscorer Bakambu (9) represents a huge blow for their ambition of finishing in a European spot this season.
In fact, only four players have scored more La Liga goals than the DR Congo international thus far.
