Tielemans open to Leicester stay

Youri Tielemans has suggested he is open to prolonging his stay at Leicester beyond the end of the current season.

Leicester signed Tielemans from Monaco in January on a loan deal until the end of the season and the Belgium international has impressed for the Foxes.

Tielemans has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United, who will be in the market for at least one new central midfielder this summer.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has already revealed the club are working on a permanent deal for Tielemans and the midfielder has not ruled out staying.

“I do not know what is going to happen this summer,” he told Sky Sports. “I feel really good here, but I have to see the other options too. That is normal, I do not have to rush myself.

“We are now in April and we will see over the next months. At Leicester, I can be part of something great. They will have a new training ground, the stadium will be much better than it is now with more fans coming over. So it can be something great for the future.

“He [Brendan Rodgers] is a really open-minded manager, you can talk to him, whatever question you may have, you can ask him.

“And that is really positive for us because a lot of players were confused about what was going on.

“And everything is clear now, he wants to play offensive and attacking, but you do not have to forget about the defensive part, and everybody is doing his job and we are progressing as a team.”

Tielemans open to Leicester stay

The 21-year-old has scored or assisted in four of his last five league matches for Leicester (one goal, three assists).

In fact, the Belgium international has already asserted himself as Leicester’s fourth highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League this season (7.10).
