Tottenham ace set to sign new deal

Jan Vertonghen is poised to become the latest Tottenham player to commit their long-term future to the club, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Belgium international has entered the final two years of his current £60,000-a-weel deal with Tottenham but has agreed an extension that will align him with the club’s top earners.

Vertonghen, 29, will still not break through the £100,000-a-week barrier, which is proving a stumbling block in Tottenham’s pursuit to get captain Hugo Lloris and star striker Harry Kane to commit their long-term futures at the club.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have already got the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Tom Carroll and Eric Dier to sign new long-term deals since the summer, with Vertonghen now set to become the latest.

No player has made more clearances in the Premier League this season than Vertonghen (108).
