Who reigns supreme in combined Juventus and Fiorentina XI?

No Serie A side at the top of the table dare slips up at the moment. Juventus’ incredibly slow start to the season has made this the most exciting title race in Italian football in recent history, but there are now signs that Max Allegri’s men are returning to their best and another win here over their title rivals would send a real message to their competitors.

Fiorentina have been one of the teams to occupy top spot this season, but their stuttering form over the last three games has allowed Inter to recapture supremacy in the league and a first defeat here in seven league games would be a real blow to their title hopes with Roberto Mancini’s men four points clear at the top.

WhoScored.com uses their statistically calculated rating system to see who makes a Juventus and Fiorentina combined XI from those to have made at least seven league appearances this season.

While Juventus boast the three highest rated players (Alex Sandro - 7.38, Paulo Dybala - 7.33 and Paul Pogba - 7.31), it is Fiorentina who have a greater representation (6).

However, crucially, it is those three players that are likely to be the difference makers when these two teams meet at the Juventus stadium on Sunday. Dybala, a summer signing from Palermo, has been made to be patient for his chance in Allegri’s team, but now he is flourishing and his form has been one of the main reasons behind Juventus’ gradual climb back up the table.

In fact, Dybala has played a direct hand in 10 of Juventus’ 22 league goals this season, which includes three goals in his last four outings in Serie A.

Much was expected of Pogba this season after he resisted temptations to leave for pastures new over the summer and took on the weight of expectation that accompanies the No.10 shirt at Juventus. However, his form was typical of their slow start to the season but there are now signs he is returning to his best in recent displays. The French midfielder has made at least 8 more dribbles than any of his teammates this season (40) and his bustling runs from midfield will be key to Juventus’ chances of victory on Sunday.
