Arsenal complete Cech deal

Arsenal have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on a four-year deal in a move that will cost the Gunners around £11m.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had been resigned to losing the 33-year-old to a direct Premier League rival, and the move to Arsenal has seemed a forgone conclusion all summer.

Cech had been Chelsea’s No.1 keeper for nearly a decade until the start of last season when Thibaut Courtois usurped his position in the team. The arrival of Cech is expected to transform Arsenal into genuine title contenders.

In Cech, Arsenal will finally now have a goalkeeper in between the sticks that can be relied upon at all times. In the last six campaigns, only Joe Hart (90) has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than Petr Cech (76). In that same period, only two goalkeepers have successfully claimed more crosses than Cech (296).
