Russian Premier League giants Zenit St. Petersburg have confirmed Axel Witsel has completed a move to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjin.
Witsel, 27, has been heavily linked with a move to one of Europe’s top leagues in recent seasons and was on the verge of joining Juventus in the summer before collapsed on the final day of the transfer window.
The Belgium international was also mooted with a move to Everton during the summer but his long-term future is now finalised after securing a lucrative move to China.
Witsel will become first Belgian player to play in the Chinese Super League and is now the Tianjin’s marquee signing under Fabio Cannavaro’s side for next season.
In the last four Russian Premier League campaigns only Charles Kabore (392) has won possession in the midfield third more times than Witsel (376).
