Caglar Soyuncu is poised to snub interest from Manchester City after revealing he wants to stay at Leicester .
The Turkey international has been heavily linked with a move to City over the course of the season after emerging as a real surprise package for high flyers Leicester.
Pep Guardiola opted against signing a replacement for outgoing captain Vincent Kompany last summer and that has since proved costly.
Defensive mistakes have undermined City's defence of their Premier League title and Guardiola will use the next transfer window to overhaul the club's current backline.
Soyuncu has been a revelation for Leicester this season and helped fill the void left by Harry Maguire in the summer.
Leicester placed their faith in the Turkey international instead of re-investing any of the £80M made from Maguire's move to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was Leicester's fourth-choice centre-back last season but in 2019/20 has quickly established himself as one of the best in the Premier League.
His performances for Leicester has drawn reported interest from Guardiola's side but Soyuncu has revealed he would like to repay the faith shown by Leicester and continue at the club.
"I don't think it would be right to go somewhere right now," he told Fotomac, via The Daily Mail. "I'm having a good season. Above all, I still have a lot to learn.
"He [Harry Maguire] is the most expensive defender in the world and your team does not buy another [defender] because it trusts you. You play instead of someone who transferred for 80 million pounds.
"We're going well now, but the important thing is to keep it going. I played 30 matches, but it's important to increase this to three-digit numbers. It is very important to be at the same level throughout your career."
In fact, only Virgil van Dijk (7.40), Harry Maguire (7.11) and James Tarkowski (7.10) have garnered better WhoScored ratings than Soyuncu (7.09) of all centre-backs in the Premier League this season.
