Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Napoli midfielder Jorginho and have made an approach for the Brazil-born Italy international, according to UOL Esporte.
The 26-year-old has excelled for title chasing Napoli this term and his flying form in Serie A has attracted interest from a number of Premier League suitors.
Manchester United have been monitoring Jorginho for some time now as they look to sufficiently replace Michael Carrick, who is retiring at the end of the season.
However, they could be beaten to his signature by Liverpool, who have made the Napoli star one of their top targets and are believed to have made an approach for Jorginho.
Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri will be keen to retain the services of one of the club’s midfield lynchpins and is hoping to extend his current deal beyond 2020.
One of Jorginho’s statistically calculated WhoScored strengths is ‘passing’ which he has exhibited on a number of occasions this season, with the Napoli star averaging more passes per game (94.3) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
